Our Past, Present and Future

About Us

History

Our church is dedicated to St Augustine Webster. He was educated at Cambridge University and became the prior of Our Lady of Melwood, a Carthusian house at Epworth, on the Isle of Axholme, North Lincolnshire, in 1531. He was imprisoned on the orders of Thomas Cromwell when he refused to take the Oath of Supremacy and was hanged, beheaded and quartered at Tyburn on May 4, 1534. Canonised in 1970 as one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. St Augustine Webster Roman Catholic Church, built in 1988, is the most northerly parish in the regional catchment area of the Nottingham RC Diocese.

Present Day

We are a Christian congregation serving the Barton-upon-Humber community and beyond; seeking, engaging, and encouraging others through a life-changing Christian journey. We seek to be a loving, friendly community that worships God, and serves others. We place a high priority on teaching from the Bible and following the example of Jesus.

Into the Future

Our vision is to impact and renew Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire and beyond with the transforming message of Jesus Christ through words and actions. Everyone is welcome. Come as you are – we’d love to get to know you.
